Healx appoints Gillian Bonthron as Chief Finance Officer
Cambridge, UK – 13 December 2021. Healx, the AI-powered, patient-inspired technology company pioneering the next generation of drug discovery, today announced the appointment of Gillian Bonthron as its Chief Finance Officer. Gillian joins the team from Perspectum, a global medtech company that uses digital technologies to help clinicians provide better care for patients with chronic metabolic diseases, multi-organ pathologies and cancer. In her new role at Healx, Gillian will leverage her wealth of experience in finance leadership to drive forward Healx’s strategic ambition.
“I am incredibly proud to welcome Gillian to the team,” said Dr Tim Guilliams, Co-Founder and CEO of Healx. “Gillian brings with her a rich knowledge of financial governance from more than 20 years in the industry, and has a unique set of experiences that will be essential for Healx’s next phase of growth. Under her financial guidance, we will continue to confidently move towards our goal of pioneering a new paradigm of drug discovery for rare diseases.”
Prior to joining Perspectum, Gillian held a number of senior finance positions including finance director at Mitie Group plc – a strategic services company – and as a director at KPMG Corporate Finance, where she was responsible for executing cross-border acquisitions, disposals, fundraising and leveraged transactions. She is also a chartered accountant, and received a first-class honours degree in accountancy and business law from the University of Strathclyde.
Commenting on her appointment, Gillian said: “I am delighted to join Healx. I look forward to working with Tim and the senior leadership team to execute our strategic objectives and drive the next stage of Healx’s growth”.
Gillian’s appointment is the latest to Healx’s growing leadership team, which welcomed five other members in 2021. Laura Fink joined the team in February from fintech start-up SETL to lead Healx’s People and Culture Team and ex-Acrotech Biopharma lead, Mark Youssef, was appointed Global Head of Business Development in March. Andrew Watson (ex-Dyson), Ryan Tomlinson (ex-GSK) and Francine Bennett (ex-Mastodon C) also joined this year to head up Healx’s technology leadership team.
