Decentralised trials
Also known as distributed, home-based or ‘siteless’ trials. They are clinical trials where technology is used to communicate with study participants and collect data. In these trials, patient visits (e.g. for interacting with the clinician and laboratory tests) are localised in the patient’s community. Medications for the study are provided either directly to the patient or the local healthcare facility. Other interactions, such as patient recruitment and monitoring may occur via online interactions, with data secured and maintained virtually.
